Depuis un peu plus d’un an, les IA génératives sont partout et c’est formidable. Elles ont des réponses à toutes nos questions. Seulement à toutes nos questions.
Elles y répondent précisément, de la façon la plus objective et détachée qui soit. Elles répondent sans état d’âme, et les histoires qu’elles racontent, parce qu’on leur a demandé d’en raconter, ne sont jamais les leurs.
Dans l’art subtile de la conversation, l’être humain seul est capable d’émerveiller. L’être humain, à travers un récit, a cette capacité unique à vivre et à faire vivre, et à transmettre de l’amour à travers de l’information.
Une histoire, racontée par une personne, que ce soit une aventure épique, vécue ou imaginaire, ou une explication de la théorie des cordes, porte en elle-même des champs d’émotions, de rires, de créativité, une étincelle de vie.
Seule une histoire racontée par une personne peut me donner des idées que je n’aurais jamais eu.
Je tape “Le théorème de” dans Google, qui me suggère en 0,12 milliseconde (et 7 grammes de CO2) :
- Le théorème de Marguerite (la fiche du film, la critique, le regarder en streaming)
- Les théorèmes de Pythagore, Thalès, Fermat (le petit, le grand, le dernier), Goldbach, Gödel
- La réciproque du théorème de Pythagore

Avant de taper mon prompt, je me suis posé la question à moi-même, j’ai eu tout de suite Archimède, Pythagore, Thalès.
Archimède, mon premier théorème, oublié par Google.
Thalès et Pythagore, j’ai dû être vaguement attentif au collège ou au lycée, finalement.
Les théorèmes des autres scientifiques, oui j’ai pu entendre les noms, non je n’ai aucune idée de leurs implications.
Le film et le roman, pourquoi pas, mon cerveau à moi, on lui dit “théorème”, il se réfugie dans le champ scientifique.
Donc merci Google, j’ai des trucs nouveaux à explorer, mais seul mon cerveau gauche est nourri, largement. Mon cerveau droit fait grise mine.
Google est incapable de me proposer le Célèbre Théorème d’Arnold Schwarzenegger !
D’abord qui c’est cet Arnold Schwarzenegger ? Est-ce l’acteur ? Le politicien ? Mr. Universe ? Existe-t-il vraiment ? Est-ce qu’il reviendra ?
Quels théorèmes chacun d’entre eux aurait-il bien pu proposer à la postérité ?
Pareil avec le Théorème Universel d’Armstrong !

Un être humain, n’importe quel être humain, a ce pouvoir de nous embarquer dans des histoires qui déploient notre imaginaire, qui rendent notre réel plus vrai, et d’atténuer nos peurs et nos préjugés inutiles.
Profitons-en, il y en a un peu plus de 8 milliards autour de nous.

You suggest a topic for a conversation, someone picks it up, you meet in a café and talk about it.
Or about something completely different, it really doesn’t matter…
Your universe expands, other person’s universe expands, you both share emotions and humanity celebrates.
For a little over a year now, generative AIs have been everywhere, and it’s great. They have answers to all our questions. Only to all our questions.
They answer them precisely, in the most objective and detached way possible. They answer without emotion, and the stories they tell, because they’ve been asked to tell them, are never their own.
In the subtle art of conversation, only the human being is capable of wonder. The human being, through a story, has this unique ability to experience and inspire, and to convey love through information.
A story, told by a person, whether it’s an epic adventure, actual or fictional, or the explanation of string theory, carries with it a wealth of emotions, laughter, creativity, and a spark of life.
Only a story told by a person can inspire me with ideas I would never have had.
I type “Theorem” into Google. In a split of a millisecond and 7 grams of CO2 it suggests the following:
- a music video on YouTube
- some definitions of what a theorem is
- the theorem of Pythagoras
- two companies called Theorem (one in IA, one in Cannabis)
Before I started to enter my prompt, I asked myself what I should expect and immediately came up with Archimedes, Pythagoras and Thales theorems.
Archimedes and Thales, the first two theorems I learned, forgotten by Google.
Pythagoras, I must have been vaguely attentive in high school after all.
As for anything else, well, my brain, when told “theorem”, retreats in the scientific field, and doesn’t go anywhere else.
So thank you Google, I’ve got some new stuff to explore, but only my left brain is fed. My right brain is starving.
Google is unable to offer me Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Famous Theorem!
First of all, who is this Arnold Schwarzenegger? Is it the actor? The politician? Mr. Universe? Does he really exist? Will he be back?
What theorems could any of them have proposed to posterity?
The same goes for Armstrong’s Universal Theorem!
